What Are Fire Detectors?

Fire detectors are devices that sense smoke, heat, or flames and detect fire in its early stages, allowing for fire suppression and evacuation before it spreads. To determine the correct and required type of detector, the following factors must be identified and considered:

1. Type of fire likely to occur (e.g., cables, highly flammable materials, etc.).

2. Geography of the area, such as ceiling height and whether the space is open or enclosed.

3. Surrounding conditions, including normal and expected temperatures, humidity levels, presence of strong air currents, strong magnetic fields, or exposure to vibrations and shocks.

4. Type of activity conducted in the area, and whether the materials used may affect the detector’s performance (such as materials that emit vapors, gases, or radiation, or areas with loud noise and sound levels, etc.).

After evaluating all the above factors, the appropriate type of fire detection devices for the installation site can be determined.
